In-game Mini-plots and Operations
Be aware that, unless otherwise specified, missions are generally not GMed by mods. They will be handled through information packages, Q&A (which can follow along as the thread/s progress/es) and OOC coordination.
As a general rule, the information seen on this page will be IC knowledge if/when characters decide to take a mission, allowing them to assess risk fairly accurately. More details are likely to also be available.
To take or suggest a mission, please comment to this post using the form below.
RETRIEVAL
Mineral QQ | Moderate Risk | 2+ characters | This mineral can be for aged and placed in special units at the Citadel and/or Temple in order to boost the effectiveness of energy drawn from the inhabiting characters throughout Xistentia. On the upside, that means stronger, more stable shields from D.E.S.T.I.N.Y.'s various attacks, whether on the ground or side-effects in weather and environment. On the downside, more unexpected boosting effects may occur when the mineral is improperly handled... including exaggerated vices, virtues, or even powers. |
Misteleported | Low Risk | 2+ characters | The teleportation phenomenon between the Citadel and the Temple are well-known-- basically, there's one-way instantaneous travel between the locations. However, there are occasionally glitches to the system. A powerful artefact from the Citadel was accidentally dumped at the Temple, disrupting the Warning System. It must simply be taken 40 miles back West across the city. Only one problem: it causes carriers to experience shared hallucinations of their homeworld apocalypse. |
HUNT AND HARVEST
Sea Dragon | High Risk | 2+ characters | Climate consequences have affected the breeding patterns of 80-foot long amphibious reptiles off the coast of Xistentia, and there are now too many males. Their aggressive behavior is likely to affect the beaches. The hunt is on! But beware, their venom is known to induce disorienting mind-share episodes, and their scales are as hard as stone. Further, their favored tactic is to draw prey down to the crushing depths of the sea... |
Low Risk | 2+ characters | Though threats of invasion seem minimal, the Citadel and Temple have both raised an alert that strands from a unicorn tail are needed to complete designs for small, portable D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. detection device. The problem is, unicorns are touchy, delicate, and prudishly themed creatures to begin with, and the samples must be uncorrupted. What to do? |
ESPIONAGE
Infiltrate Prison World 0 | High Risk | 2+ characters | Infiltrate and explore the original Prison World and discover some unexpected elements in the coding and reality distortion. Intelligence gathered will affect future Prison World plots. Note, the AU canon may be selected based on the players' interests and preferences, but the mods will have to determine the appropriateness of the fit! |
GMed by the Mods
Pitchforks! | Low Risk | 2+ characters | Thus far, the various races of Xistentia have lived in harmony. However, NPC residents of the Xistentia are beginning to complain about strange symptoms, of blacking out, lost time, dizziness upon waking. Rumors are starting up about an attacker from within. Perhaps it would be best to start an investigation, before folks start to grab pitchforks and look at the non-humans with needless suspicion. Note, collateral damage/drama to supernatural characters will be limited. |
Speak To Evil | Low Risk | 2+ characters | Use defense interfaces at the Citadel to receive a message from an arrogant entity who claims to be a D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. agent. Field their threats, and prepare for the eventuality of war approaching Xistentia. |

Era's M.O. was always to make initial contact and learn about them - offered her services to help them in whatever way she could once she found out their problems. I think the Sylphs would be most relevant here, as they lived in harmony with the forest (the others were desert-dwellers, sea dwellers, bird people, other bird people in the sky, moogles, and crab-bug things). Era learned as much as she could of their culture and wanted their assistance with... idr - probably just for them to have peace with the local settlements - and they gave her more involved tasks the more she did for them to gain their trust. This always ended up with her crippling the violent factions. With the Sylphs in particular this meant rescuing their unhatched/bloomed (they're like floating cabbages so - plants lol) because the Sylphs themselves were incapable of doing so themselves.
It's been ages since I actually did the story lines but I guess the TL;DR is that she had a reason to go to the tribes needing something, would be open about what she was there for, and would offer to help them with any problems they might have in return for whatever it was she needed. It would take time and she'd always end up continuing to help long after she got what she needed from them, considering them her friends. In return she eventually became an honorary member of each Tribe she helped.
I know that if those Nom Tree things attacked a unicorn in their view, she (and Aymeric too ofc) would cull the crap out of the tree to rescue it. And then she would offer to heal it if it permitted her
Blah blah blah blah
Lots of honesty and desire to help and understand them, treating them as equals and not any old beasts.
I know I don't mind this being a long-term sort of thing, since Era kind of loves unicorns. And she definitely would not want to take anything from one without its express consent.

edit a million years later -- but any idea how the unicorns would react to a visit from a recouperating Era? assuming they'd act any differently, that is!
also how would unicorns treat someone they befriended?
... and I guess if you happen to have an idea, would they have any weird speech quirks?

The unicorns would not change their behavior much visited by Era if she has injuries. They might express some concern or fear that she'd brought danger with her, but in general, they'd just observe and go about their business as usual. There would no be grand gestures of help or indications of hostility.
