Hiatuses may last up to 1 month barring emergency circumstances and reduce Activity Requirements (every other month) by half (1 comment required). Observed abuse will lead to an uncomfortable conversation with the mods.

Canon updates can be either ICly voluntary (the character wants it) or involuntary. If voluntary, the idea will be that the canon timeline program was partially repaired and your character returned there for some reason, perhaps to check for continued D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. activity. They then come back to Xistentia to continue helping other worlds, or upon discovering D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. has not been eradicated from the original canon.
If the update is involuntary, then the canon update is your character choosing to initiate an emergency protocol, O.R.A.C.L.E. in a life-or-death situation. Most likely, your character volunteered for a mission in the multiverse that went wrong or was subject to an attack from D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. (e.g., monster grabbing them in the woods). O.R.A.C.L.E. uses a timeshift to snatch the character from danger and return them to safety, at the cost of gaining more time in their canon.
During their visit home, the characters do not remember their time in Xistentia.

Attitude Changes: After seeing some changes in her home world Era will be slightly less resigned to helping from Xistentia, though she will never be 100% happy unless she is actively fighting back home - especially since the being causing the current Calamity is doing so because it wants her to fight in its trials. So D.E.S.T.I.N.Y is still not eradicated but Era sees the results of whatever they have done so far. Which will make her work much harder!

Attitude Changes: alec will return more comfortable and confident in taking on a leadership role in more situations. his attitude toward xistentia itself will not change much except that he'll be more eager to be present to get rid of D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. he'll pay more attention to what is needed of them and participate in any mission to further the work of F.A.T.E.S. he would be prepared to aid in fighting this war with everything he has, and take a stronger stance regarding their role here.

Attitude Changes: Magnus will return to Xistentia pleased and somewhat relieved, but very weary. He's had a rough time since returning home and, though the heroes scored a major victory shortly before he returned to Xistentia, Magnus has a lot to work through now. He'll be all the more determined to see their world put right, particularly after watching the ongoing situation there. There's a chance he'll retreat from being quite so aggressive about the work for a short while though, essentially from a need to recharge. Then, as soon as he's able, he'll be right back at it taking a more active role in missions and the like.

Attitude Changes: The knowledge that Shinryu was stopped and Nidhogg's eyes destroyed will take a great weight off Aymeric's shoulders. With Doma and Ala Mhigo liberated, he will also (upon returning) view it as F.A.T.E.S' influence that the outcome was as miraculous as it was. So, he'll be more at ease and involved - fielding missions and get the community together still - once he finds out the trials that Era is being put through by Omega since he believes what they do here has and will continue to help.

Spoilers for Shadowhunters Season 2b within
Desired Canon Point: Season 2, episode 20; immediately after he's been stabbed by Valentine.
Attitude Changes: Jace has discovered his true lineage - that he is a Herondale, and therefore descended from a line of Shadowhunters so highly regarded that they're compared to royalty. Having finally found his place, he at first makes some poor decisions in an attempt to please his newly discovered grandmother - who happens to be the Shadowhunter Inquisitor. She makes him head of the New York Institute. He comes to his senses, though, and seeing himself more as a soldier than a general, he chooses to pass that baton to Alec, and returns to the front lines of war. This resolves much of Jace's identity crisis, leaving him more sure of who he is and where he belongs. Though he had previously resolved not to tell Clary they weren't related, so as to avoid interfering in her relationship with Simon, Valentine takes the decision out of his hands. Clary does not react well, and the news initially pushes them further apart. Eventually they grow close again, and are often seen on missions together. By the time of the final episode, they've kissed again and as Jace is stabbed, he tells Clary that he loves her. All of this will make him far less secretive in Xist in general, especially towards Clary. He'll believe that there's no life left for him at home and this is the only chance he still has to make a difference or a life for himself. He'll be more invested in what happens here, for the sake of Xist itself and not just his own world.
Proposed IC Mechanic: Voluntary. Jace will reappear in the Temple and be rapidly bleeding to death. He will be found by NPCs who will get him to a healing chamber and save his life.

Desired Canon Point: Season 2, Episode 20. Just before she makes a deal with Raziel.
Attitude Changes: A lot will have happened to Clary during the time she is gone. For one, most of her relationships back home have changed. She'll know the truth about her connection with Jace, she'll have lost her mother, she'll be closer to Alec. She’ll have killed her own father. This means she’ll potentially be a bit more wary of other people that aren’t a part of her world in the beginning. Betrayal keeps happening to her, so she might not trust as quickly. But then with time she’ll reconnect with her old Eudio CR and whoever arrives.
There'll be something a bit more fierce about her too. She'll definitely want to be a part of missions when she thinks the safety of her friends is at risk. They’ll have to matter to her still, because this is all she has now. With Clary being who she is though, it won’t be hard. She’s inherently good. She won’t want to go home either.Jace will have died just before she arrives, so she'll be desperate to build a life together with him too.
An important thing to note too is that Clary will have discovered that she has a specific kind of runic power thanks to Valentine’s experiments. She has the ability to create new runes, but they have to come to her in the form of visions. They’re not really a fail safe, she will have to rely on her normal Shadowhunter powers most of the time.

Desired Canon Point: Peace Between Worlds, four years from her current canon point
Attitude Changes: A surprise to everyone, including herself: Rose isn't dead! She escapes just barely thanks to the heroics of Reyson Morgan. He's a werewolf and the youngest in a trio of brothers who take Rose in after her brush with death. Feldspar is the middle brother, a vampire alchemist. Misto is the oldest, a minor god of piracy.
She spends the next four years with them at Morgana Manor learning to hone her ki abilities and just generally settling for (what she thinks, not remembering Eudio or Xistentia) the first time in her life. About three years into her stay there, Zennyo Ryūō, the dragon king, decides to purge humanity. What a guy! He tears the barrier between the Makai and Ningenkai apart and basically unleashes demonic hell on earth. A war between humanity and yokai ensue. Rose - along with the Morgans - become founders and leaders of a faction fighting ultimately for peace between the two worlds turned one.
Rose will return to Xistentia a bit conflicted, honestly, because she will remember plans made with Vanyel but want to save her world now and go back there instead of traveling to Tamriel. She will fight that much harder though against D.E.S.T.I.N.Y., perceiving it to the be reason the formerly neutral Zennyo Ryūō suddenly decided to try and kill all humans. (He's actually just a dick and this happens anyway, but y'know.)
Proposed IC Mechanic: Involuntary. On the last day of the war plot (11/18, I believe), something will happen to have Rose initiate the emergency protocol O.R.A.C.L.E. and she will be gone for one week, returning on the 25th.

Attitude Changes: While Loki may not be 100% geared towards protecting Xistentia and more concerned with his survival and self-interests, he is no longer the bitter vengeful god, only keen on retreating within himself for protection. He'll still be sharp, sarcastic and occasionally, rude, but he'll no longer see himself as the worst thing imaginable. The loss of his world, along with his father will shake him up but Loki has chosen to stick with his brother. To the end, if he can.

Desired Canon Point: Post-Ragnarok, before mid-credits scene
Attitude Changes: Having just caused his home to be utterly obliterated, and sat at the command of the remnants of his people set into space to wander for a new home, Thor's much less attached to a singular place or dimension. He's matured in many ways, accepted the way of some things (necessary sacrifices, inherent differences (how he and his brother will never be the same as they were before), what it means to protect and the limits of what you can do to save another person). With the loss of Odin, Thor's had to stand for himself, and be his own strength and motivation, a trying thing that he's still not excellent or even comfortable with, but not something he's backing down from. He's relaxed a lot, not so dire and miserable about everything, and learned to let things go. He's still a dumb, impulsive, quick to anger punk, but one that's learned to accept the tragedies in his life, and look past the failures he's had and pick himself back up. Also, he got a hair cut and lost an eye, woops.

Desired Canon Point: Patch 4.25
Attitude Changes: Era will be a bit more conflicted about how she feels about F.A.T.E.S. and Xistentia. On the one hand she cares for Xistentia, but on the other it is not Eorzea, it feels like progress is going very slow and she finds herself a bit more frustrated with the whole F.A.T.E.S./D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. thing. Regardless of outside interference she will feel like a complete and utter failure as a Warrior of Light, since she exists to keep her world safe and continues to be unable to.
This won't change her outward attitude - she will still be accepting but wary of F.A.T.E.S. to onlookers, but what faith she had in it will have diminished by a fair amount. She will still do her best to help however she can in Xistentia, though she will return with a stronger desire to explore the unexplored corners of this world and learn more about the history of the war she was dragged into.
Basically Era will be even less trusting of F.A.T.E.S, more stir crazy, and determined to find more ruins and islands to explore in search of more answers. She will want to know D.E.S.T.I.N.Y.'s side of things, and find information from a third party as well if possible.
Proposed IC Mechanic: Involuntary. She went on a camping trip after her birthday to try and clear her head a bit on March 11th, and shortly into the trip encountered something that requires her to initiate the O.R.A.C.L.E. protocol. Return date for the 14th or 15th.
