PLEASE READ:
ALLOWED CHARACTERS

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
Notes:
  • We now operate ROLLING APPLICATIONS that are always open. You can submit 1 character anytime in a month!

  • Our application process has become simplified due to staffing changes, please take note!

  • As apps are always open, reserves are NO LONGER REQUIRED. Please simply complete the application below and post when you are ready.

  • If two people apply for the same character, the first to post their application will be assessed. The second application will only be considered if the first is declined.

  • However, we do allow UP TO TWO versions of each character in game. The second applicant would therefore be permitted to apply for an AU version of that character if they so choose.

  • Agents of D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. or antagonist applications will open on November 4. These characters are either brainwashed (quick resolution) or coerced (slow-play resolution, long-term espionage) to help usher in the apocalypse. More information here!
Please do not link from your journal, make sure all the content is pasted into the comment(s).

OOC:

Player Name: Provide your handle
Age: Indicate you are 18+; players less than 18 years-of-age are not permitted
Contact: One or more of Plurk, PM, or Discord are needed

IC:

Character Name: Mrs. Handsome
Canon: Indicate which version if there are multiple (e.g., book to movie)
CANON POINT: Briefly describe in a sentence.
CRAU: Yes/No, please link the game/musebox the character is from
Age: Note that characters below 16 years of age should be apped with caution, as self-sufficiency/autonomy are extremely important. Heavy interdependency and neglect risks should be OOCly opt-in.
AGENT OF DESTINY: Yes/No, "Brainwashed" or "Coerced." Brainwash agents will be captured in-game and start to remember themselves within 1-2 months of play; coerced agents are knowingly helping the other side but under duress. Antagonists cannot begin gameplay until November 4, 2017, but you may feel free to apply and plot before then!
Background: Brief summary as possible, Wiki links preferred. If you wish to write your own, please us bullet points and be concise, 250-800 words. Please avoid over-describing the world or any jargon, focus more on key points in personality development (see above), changes wrought by CRAU and important CRAU relationships, and events that are likely to be regarded as offensive or sensitive material.
Powers/Abilities: Bullet list preferred. 1-400 words. Include non-human weaknesses/limits and superlative skills. Estimate numerical limits (weight, distance, speed, etc.). At the mods' discretion, destructive capacity may be scaled down based on a maximum lift of 5 tons (~2 full-sized cars).
Starting Equipment: Name your daemon, describe its form (max 50 words), and list any other items the character will be arriving with. Note highly destructive items will be controlled by metaplot. If you have critters that have powers or special abilities, please describe them briefly.
Samples: 1 required, may be from any meme, game, or setting; however, it should have been written within the last year. They should also be written from your preferred canon point.

In-Universe:

Exit Strategy: Maximum of 200 words. If your character is an agent of D.E.S.T.I.N.Y./antagonist, describe what D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. agents did to them (e.g., torture/magical brainwashing, or family held hostage/apocalypse postponed).

For non-antagonists, tell us how the D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. apocalypse and the enemy appeared in their world, then describe the technology or magic the character used to escape their world. Note any characters they are arriving with (i.e., 'group app') including usernames. This may be used for future plot, but don't worry too much about perfect consistency with your group mate/castmates/etc.— adjustments can be made later. We just want you to be thinking about it. All characters start on the beach.

Applications
Who's Allowed?

ALLOWED

✔ CRAU, or characters who have experienced life in other games/museboxes. 'Partial CRAU' is not allowed, but if you apply in fresh, you will be able to obtain memories of CRAU during special events.
✔ Original characters
✔ Canon characters who must personally appear and preferably have a speaking role in the material of the canon point (specific episodes, books, films, etc.). You cannot app a minor/supporting character and headcanon the substance of their personality, or extrapolate a character's off-screen activities from material that only their canonmates were seen in
✔ Child characters (see Age warning in the Application section; note that self-sufficiency is important and other characters and players will not be forced to face consequences for failing to take on a dependent without careful OOC plotting)
Multiple iterations of the same canon character are allowed. The two versions must be at least one with CRAU. The current maximum is 2 of each character. This may be raised by 1 if the character exists in another form of media and is determined to be sufficiently different.
✔ Non-human characters (greatest height in all directions is 30 feet; weird genitalia is fine as long as no one has to deal with it if they don't want to)
Agents of D.E.S.T.I.N.Y., allowed as of November 4

PLEASE NO

Agents of D.E.S.T.I.N.Y., those secretly affiliated with the virus
✘ Characters who must kill sentient beings (compulsion, physical appetites/dependence, etc.); there are limited NPCs and escalating ICC may render your character unplayable

Players should consider introducing themselves to players of close canon CR before they app. However, this is only required in the case of a group application (castmates arriving together from the same version and canon point of their world), or if you are apping the second version of an existing canon character. The purpose of this is not to mandate approval, but to initiate and encourage intra-cast communication.

In-Universe:

EXIT STRATEGY: D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. came in the form of demons breaking through a Door into their world. They brought destruction with them, and the Kingdom's witches began to foretell a coming apocalypse caused by them. In response, the halfling Shane opened a portal which was intended as an escape route; but something went wrong in transit. Wyatt entered the portal, but felt himself pulled away from the correct path. He loses sense of when and where he is, and eventually finds himself here, alone. (Note: this was written to match with Shane's exit strategy - Shane is already in Xistentia.)
MORALITY: If asked, Wyatt would loudly claim to have no moral limits, and boast about how he'll do what he has to do and how he doesn't see anything wrong with breaking a few rules from time to time. In reality, Wyatt is much less of a grey area than he thinks he is. It's true that he will do what he needs to in order to survive; in the past that has included working as a low level drug dealer, petty theft, and both using and providing others with false documentation and identification. There are also a myriad of human laws and moral standards to which he doesn't subscribe because he grew up in a wolf pack which did not have those standards. For example, the concept of a legal drinking age is foreign to him, as is attendance at school, the consumption of non-lethal drugs, the concept of having a national identity, the concept of bias based on skin colour rather than species (they're all just 'humans' to him), or bias based on gender or sexuality. He additionally has no hang ups around sex before marriage; marriage is something he associates with humans. He has also grown up around polyamorous relationships, both in his pack and among the residents of the Vampire Kingdom. He has also known monogamous relationships, and his opinion is not that one is better than the other; just that there is nothing wrong with either one. In these ways, Wyatt is the grey area that he claims to be. However, there are certain morals which are strongly ingrained in him, so much so that he doesn't think of them as morals but simply as 'the normal way to behave'. He is deeply loyal, prizing friends, family and pack above everything else. He would rather die than betray someone he loves. He also wouldn't steal from someone he considered a friend, and would feel guilty about lying to or in any way cheating them; those are things he thinks should not be done. He's also strongly opposed to creating werewolves by biting humans; this was a strong taboo in his first pack, which would have expelled and shunned any werewolf that did it. Additionally his first pack believed strongly in control over the wolf, which was ingrained in each of them since childhood. To lose control and hurt someone by accident would, in Wyatt's eyes, be one of the worst crimes he could commit – though, harming a packmate would rank higher. He has a very limited respect for authorities, with the exception of the pack alpha; the alpha's word is law, and as such, he will never forgive himself for how he chafed against his alpha's authority when he was younger. However, he has a wolf's instincts for dominance, and so will still chafe against any authority figure that he does not respect. The one who gains his respect would earn both loyalty and obedience from Wyatt.
WAR ATTITUDES: Wyatt is not an experienced soldier. He did however grow up in a wolf pack, in which members spent a great deal of time shifted and in which they would hunt, run, wrestle, and compete against each other. This makes Wyatt a better fighter when transformed than he is in his human form. His time living on the streets of various human cities involved fighting only when he had to, if he found himself cornered by rivals of the people he worked for, or encountered a group that suspected him of being more than human. In these situations he was willing to fight and defend himself, but his goal was escape and survival. Since joining his new pack, he has received much more dedicated training, as the Vampire Kingdom had spent a long time at war and knowing how to protect themselves is customary and required by the pack alpha. Despite this, Wyatt joined them at a time of peace, and he is still a newcomer to that life. In addition, the reason he was expelled from his original pack was that he lost a fight for dominance over the pack alpha. Wyatt deeply regrets this fight, and the immediate loss of his family and pack in the aftermath was a traumatic event that he has never really gotten over. Due to this, Wyatt is not someone who goes out looking for a fight. He will defend himself when he is in danger, and will shift into a wolf if he's struggling since he's both stronger and more effective in that form. He would also be quick to defend friends and family, and would involve himself in a fight if it meant helping them. Otherwise, he's unlikely to volunteer. This is something that would have potential to change based on development in game; if he begins to feel at home here, he'll feel possessive and attached to the place, and will be more willing to fight to defend it. In the absence of that – and certainly at first, before he feels that kind of attachment – his priority will be survival, and he'd more likely avoid a fight than jump straight in. Given the choice, he will at first be more likely to opt out of missions unless someone he cares about is going. He may also volunteer if challenged by someone else, since he wouldn't want to lose face or have people thinking he was a coward. His bark is often worse than his bite and he is still the boy who gets into situations he can’t handle because he doesn't know when to back down. This is the same attitude that got him into the fight with his alpha in the first place. As a general rule, he'll be more drawn to staying in the city and forming attachments than he will be to the serious business of missions.
INTIMATE RELATIONSHIPS: Wyatt is essentially a pack animal. He craves intimate relationships with others, particularly when other werewolves are involved. Due to his expulsion from his pack at a young age, he has spent most of his teenage years dealing with what felt like the irreparable loss of his family and the loneliness of that was crushing to him. He has had two notable reactions to it; firstly, the desire to replace what he had lost, and secondly, the desire to avoid a situation where he might feel anything like that again. This led to Wyatt acting out and becoming very wary of intimate relationships, even though he craved them. The worst thing he could imagine was facing that loss again, and he wanted to avoid that even if it meant not finding another pack. For this reason, he was initially dismissive of the offer of joining Hunter's pack, and rejected him at first. Hunter's persistence and promise of new belonging eventually convinced Wyatt to take the risk. From his perspective, however, he will have lost that second pack very soon after joining it through ending up here. That's something he will hate, and he will be determined to survive his time here and get back to his family. It also means that his sense of loneliness will return even more strongly than before. He will be caught between wanting to protect himself from further potential pain, which will make him want to push people away, and the need to alleviate it, which will make him want to have people around him. Inevitably, the second of these options will win out; with Wyatt, it always does. Even while living among humans, he still sought out a 'pack' of ill-intending youths to spend his time with. He will crave both physical and emotional contact, and he'll be open to friendship and shipping. The biggest obstacle he's likely to face is his own attitude; at first because he'll be telling himself he doesn't need anyone, and then later because he tends to get clingy and possessive when he actually does make friends. He's essentially a puppy who won't want to be left alone.
COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS: Wyatt's formative years were spent living a nomadic life, primarily in forests, woodlands, and rural places, with his first wolf pack. They tended to avoid humans in general, and cities in particular, as their alpha believed humans were dangerous to them. Due to this, Wyatt did not receive formal schooling and academic subjects still remain a mystery to him. He was educated by the senior wolves in his pack; he can read and write, as these skills were considered necessary for the wolves to pass among humans during the times when they did encounter them, but subjects like history and politics are confusing to him. He is, however, well versed in survival in natural places; he can build fires and shelters, he knows which plants are edible, he knows how to hunt and track in both his lupine and his human forms, and he's good at using the land to navigate. These skills will make him useful for exploring the planet and dealing with the forested areas outside the city. His later years of fending for himself on the streets of human cities have also made him canny about surviving in an urban environment; he's used to sleeping rough, learning to talk like the locals, and while he couldn't explain how to calculate a fraction, he can tell you how much money you owe, how many grams of drugs you can afford, and what paperwork you need forged in order to get around the modern world. He will help to make the city habitable, and potentially start up a much-needed trade in hallucinogens sourced from the forest. Wyatt has gotten good at scrounging together a life for himself without having very much to go on; that will be his approach here.
