PLEASE READ:
ALLOWED CHARACTERS

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
Notes:
  • We now operate ROLLING APPLICATIONS that are always open. You can submit 1 character anytime in a month!

  • Our application process has become simplified due to staffing changes, please take note!

  • As apps are always open, reserves are NO LONGER REQUIRED. Please simply complete the application below and post when you are ready.

  • If two people apply for the same character, the first to post their application will be assessed. The second application will only be considered if the first is declined.

  • However, we do allow UP TO TWO versions of each character in game. The second applicant would therefore be permitted to apply for an AU version of that character if they so choose.

  • Agents of D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. or antagonist applications will open on November 4. These characters are either brainwashed (quick resolution) or coerced (slow-play resolution, long-term espionage) to help usher in the apocalypse. More information here!
Please do not link from your journal, make sure all the content is pasted into the comment(s).

OOC:

Player Name: Provide your handle
Age: Indicate you are 18+; players less than 18 years-of-age are not permitted
Contact: One or more of Plurk, PM, or Discord are needed

IC:

Character Name: Mrs. Handsome
Canon: Indicate which version if there are multiple (e.g., book to movie)
CANON POINT: Briefly describe in a sentence.
CRAU: Yes/No, please link the game/musebox the character is from
Age: Note that characters below 16 years of age should be apped with caution, as self-sufficiency/autonomy are extremely important. Heavy interdependency and neglect risks should be OOCly opt-in.
AGENT OF DESTINY: Yes/No, "Brainwashed" or "Coerced." Brainwash agents will be captured in-game and start to remember themselves within 1-2 months of play; coerced agents are knowingly helping the other side but under duress. Antagonists cannot begin gameplay until November 4, 2017, but you may feel free to apply and plot before then!
Background: Brief summary as possible, Wiki links preferred. If you wish to write your own, please us bullet points and be concise, 250-800 words. Please avoid over-describing the world or any jargon, focus more on key points in personality development (see above), changes wrought by CRAU and important CRAU relationships, and events that are likely to be regarded as offensive or sensitive material.
Powers/Abilities: Bullet list preferred. 1-400 words. Include non-human weaknesses/limits and superlative skills. Estimate numerical limits (weight, distance, speed, etc.). At the mods' discretion, destructive capacity may be scaled down based on a maximum lift of 5 tons (~2 full-sized cars).
Starting Equipment: Name your daemon, describe its form (max 50 words), and list any other items the character will be arriving with. Note highly destructive items will be controlled by metaplot. If you have critters that have powers or special abilities, please describe them briefly.
Samples: 1 required, may be from any meme, game, or setting; however, it should have been written within the last year. They should also be written from your preferred canon point.

In-Universe:

Exit Strategy: Maximum of 200 words. If your character is an agent of D.E.S.T.I.N.Y./antagonist, describe what D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. agents did to them (e.g., torture/magical brainwashing, or family held hostage/apocalypse postponed).

For non-antagonists, tell us how the D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. apocalypse and the enemy appeared in their world, then describe the technology or magic the character used to escape their world. Note any characters they are arriving with (i.e., 'group app') including usernames. This may be used for future plot, but don't worry too much about perfect consistency with your group mate/castmates/etc.— adjustments can be made later. We just want you to be thinking about it. All characters start on the beach.

Applications
Who's Allowed?

ALLOWED

✔ CRAU, or characters who have experienced life in other games/museboxes. 'Partial CRAU' is not allowed, but if you apply in fresh, you will be able to obtain memories of CRAU during special events.
✔ Original characters
✔ Canon characters who must personally appear and preferably have a speaking role in the material of the canon point (specific episodes, books, films, etc.). You cannot app a minor/supporting character and headcanon the substance of their personality, or extrapolate a character's off-screen activities from material that only their canonmates were seen in
✔ Child characters (see Age warning in the Application section; note that self-sufficiency is important and other characters and players will not be forced to face consequences for failing to take on a dependent without careful OOC plotting)
Multiple iterations of the same canon character are allowed. The two versions must be at least one with CRAU. The current maximum is 2 of each character. This may be raised by 1 if the character exists in another form of media and is determined to be sufficiently different.
✔ Non-human characters (greatest height in all directions is 30 feet; weird genitalia is fine as long as no one has to deal with it if they don't want to)
Agents of D.E.S.T.I.N.Y., allowed as of November 4

PLEASE NO

Agents of D.E.S.T.I.N.Y., those secretly affiliated with the virus
✘ Characters who must kill sentient beings (compulsion, physical appetites/dependence, etc.); there are limited NPCs and escalating ICC may render your character unplayable

Players should consider introducing themselves to players of close canon CR before they app. However, this is only required in the case of a group application (castmates arriving together from the same version and canon point of their world), or if you are apping the second version of an existing canon character. The purpose of this is not to mandate approval, but to initiate and encourage intra-cast communication.

Sonya Simonson ☁ ❝Dreamer❞ | The Gifted

OOC:

PLAYER NAME: Tessa
AGE: Over 25
CONTACT: PM [personal profile] dreamisted or plurk [plurk.com profile] figureskating__

IC:

CHARACTER NAME: Sonya Simonson | aka "Dreamer"
CANON: The Gifted
CANON POINT: 1.10 — 'Exploited', right as she's (fatally) shot in the chest by Dr. Roderick Campbell.
CRAU: No
AGE: 28 (canon hasn't specified so this is my best guesstimation)
AGENT OF DESTINY: No

BACKGROUND:
Here!

POWERS/ABILITIES: Sonya's mutant powers allow her to access the minds of people (specifically to do things like scan their memories, implant false memories, or otherwise remove and manipulate them). I've a permissions post located in her journal here.

STARTING EQUIPMENT:
Her prison uniform (with a hole in it from the bullet, and blood stains) + collar that shocks her when she uses her powers. She'll be getting rid of that collar ASAP. Image references: onetwothree
Her daemon, a monarch butterfly named Astrid.

SAMPLES:
Sonya awakens to a monarch butterfly gently resting on her nose; the pain in her chest is telling her not to move, but she sits up slowly anyway, and the butterfly then perches on her knee as she stares down at it. She smiles; it's a simple thing, the beauty of nature -- and her world had so been thrown into disarray, it was peaceful to see something like this.

What is surprising to her, however, is when it actually speaks to her. Damn, butterflies don't do that where she's from -- so yeah it's pretty cool. She's not sure if everything it's telling her is making her head spin, or if that's just her injury -- but she listens with great concentration nonetheless. And then she names it Astrid.

She finally pulls herself all the way up, standing now, with Astrid flying in gentle circles around her head. "I don't suppose you can tell me where the nearest shower is?" She asks Astrid, an eyebrow cocked up slightly in mild amusement. She really needs to wash this blood off and get a change of clothes. And then get this fucking collar off of her neck. "And maybe a crowbar or five?" Well, it's not like she has a power that can blast thing this off.

EXIT STRATEGY: In Gifted canon, the Hound program was started by humans to turn mutants into weapons to use against other mutants. For purposes of Xistentia, Sonya's exit program was that D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. had gotten their influence into this program, she saw it and tried to escape (since she'd been captured by the man running this program), and when she tried, she felt a shot to her chest, and then woke up on a beach instead of dying like she thought she was about to.

IC:

CHARACTER NAME: Vrenille
CANON: Guild Wars 2 (MMO OC)
CANON POINT: Living World Season 4, Act 1: “Daybreak" (i.e. mid-1330 AE)

CRAU: No
AGE: 26
AGENT OF DESTINY: No
BACKGROUND:
Born during the final years of a siege that had lasted for two and a half centuries, Vrenille grew up on the streets of the human stronghold of Ebonhawke, a city where the people are hardscrabble and tough, with steel in their veins and fire in their will. Long before the truce with the charr legions was finally reached (the year that Vrenille turned sixteen) he had lost both his parents and his uncle to the war and had been left to fend almost entirely for himself for the better part of a decade.

For most of his youth and adolescence, he grew up living in squats and taking whatever odd jobs he could find, which meant that he saw a lot of life from a very young age. The uncle who’d been named his guardian when he was four was a merchant at a time when merchant meant blockade-running smuggler. In practice, Vrenille was meant to have been “raised” by the series of girlfriends his uncle had left him with during his long months away. They were good people, barmaids mostly, but they had their own problems to worry about. Vrenille learned to keep out of their hair as much as he could.

Poorly educated (and just plain poor) but observant and clever, he learned to look out for himself in the closed-off, tightly-knit city. In a different place—somewhere open where people were free to come and go and the social bond was not that of a stronghold besieged—his life would no doubt have been very different. He began doing sex work because the opportunity presented itself, and he kept doing it because it was practical, kept him fed and clothed, and frankly he found that he was good at it. He has always worked independently, focused on building relationships with repeat clientele, and has always been willing to trade or sell simple companionship, as well as conventional sex acts. It helps that he’s got a nose for staying out of trouble, a good instinct for self-preservation, and a really good sense about people.

Self-sufficient and savvy about life without being cruel, he’s not the sort of man who gets off on seeing others cast low. He doesn't want to step on someone's back just to get himself ahead. He’s got a “more flies with honey than vinegar” attitude towards people, and he’s a strong believer in not burning bridges. He’s neither a thief nor a scam artist—in fact he sees himself as quite honest, though it’s an honesty that some might not appreciate since it doesn’t come paired with an expected helping of pride or shame to match. Dignity and happiness, he would tell you, come in small, negotiated doses.

There have been two great watersheds in Vrenille’s life. The first came in the year the sieges ended, the year of the elder dragon Kralkatorrik’s awakening, when he lost his best friend and only real family, a boy named Hakkyuu, and the second, eight years later, when he got him back again. Their reunion would ultimately have a happy ending, but it had a rocky start: a chance run-in at a bar, words spoken in anger, a threatened punch to the teeth. The next morning, Vrenille was taken in by one of Hakkyuu’s (very stubborn) friends, a meddling little sylvari named Kyinnlen who believed in mending old bridges and, evidently, in taking in strays.

For the first time in his life, Vrenille found himself with a benefactor who had absolutely no ulterior motive. Under his stewardship he was given a (rather strange) mentor who trained and shaped his natural aptitude for mesmer magic. He thereby found himself enfolded in the arms of an adventuring guild, tasked with a crucial role in protecting his comrades and working as part of their team when they set out on expeditions into some of the most dangerous territory. On the lee side of these ventures, he has a very close sense of family and a deep trust and commitment with the members of this group—the sort of bond that’s built by going off to war with a team of people and coming back alive.

(Note: This character is not the player character of the GW2 story and does not follow the human PC’s storyline in which the character hails from the city of Divinity’s Reach, is mentored by the NPC Logan Thackeray, helps reunite the guild Destiny’s Edge, becomes the Commander of the Pact forces, kills the elder dragon Zhaitan, kills the elder dragon Mordremoth, and kills the rogue god Balthazar. Vrenille had no direct involvement in any of those events. He knows the game’s key NPCs by reputation only. A timeline of major events in Tyrian history is available for reference here.)

POWERS/ABILITIES: Vrenille’s profession (i.e. in-game class) is mesmer, basically a mind mage/illusionist. His skills and abilities are based on his in-game build:

Clones and Phantasms - these are illusions with some degree of solidity (the latter are tougher than the former). They can carry out specific actions but cannot speak and seem a bit gormless. You could pat one on the shoulder, shake its hand, punch it in the face (they do take damage and can be killed—comparatively, they are less sturdy than your average human.) Vrenille can have up to three active clones and one phantasm at once. They don’t generally last very long—we’re talking minutes, not hours. For the most part, they are made quickly and intended to be quite impermanent. So, for example, if someone is attacking Vrenille he can dodge out of the way leaving a clone of himself standing where he was. In a fight, this makes it tricky to tell which one of him is real.
Shatters - When Vrenille’s clones are killed or he wills their destruction, it doesn’t hurt him, but it can (if he intends) hurt anyone standing near them. Clones and phantasms “die” in a burst of purple butterflies that can do mental and/or physical damage as well as create momentary spatial and temporal distortions.
Invisibility - Vrenille can make himself and small groups of his allies invisible for short amounts of time (we’re talking seconds for a group, or a couple of minutes if it’s just him).
Teleports and Portals - Portals can move people who step on them from one spot to another anywhere within a moderate distance (around 500 meters). In order to make a portal, Vrenille has to physically be first at the starting point and then at the finish. He cannot project a portal to somewhere without going there first. He can also teleport across relatively short distances (around 100 meters), but only within line of sight and not through walls/solid objects.
Glamours and Manipulations - These are various minor illusion/perception spells that include things like disguising an item or a person, deflecting a projectile, making some sort of mirage appear, or other quick utility effects. It also gives him some ability to defend himself and others from psychic attacks/mental domination.
Chronomancy - Most important thing here: this is not time travel. It’s more like stretching a rubber band and letting it snap back. Vrenille can make time feel slower for some people and faster for others, but only for the span of a few seconds. Primarily he does this through casting “wells" which look like giant spectral clock faces on the ground with the hands ticking down seconds. Each tick makes time feel faster or slower. The most powerful of these wells can momentarily “pull” gravity so that those standing inside of it float off the ground.
Weapon Skills - Vrenille doesn’t need any specific item to cast most of his magic, but he is trained to use some weapons in pretty specialized/nonconventional ways. His favorite weapon is a pistol, but rather than shooting actual ammunition, he uses it to create illusionary gunfighters (their bullets do real damage) and to shoot magic "bullets" that ricochet between targets, stunning them momentarily, dazing them, and confusing their thoughts. He also knows how to use a scepter, staff, torch, shield, and magical focus.

STARTING EQUIPMENT:
• A (rather wand-like) scepter and a handgun with no bullets.
• Clothes, including a couple of belt pouches that can hold a bit more than they look like they ought (they have various odds and ends in them—some food, a bit of coin, some shiny baubles he was meaning to sell, a surprisingly well-manicured stone dwarf thumb, nothing really of value).
• His daemon will be a white-furred skritt named Ishkabibbd. (Princess wand for show only, the skritt cannot do magic.)

SAMPLES: TDM

EXIT STRATEGY: In Vrenille’s world, D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. arrived during the Brandstorm in Crystal Oasis and the ensuing battle in the city of Amnoon, so the apocalypse was interspersed with a chaos of dragon magic, crystals falling from the sky, wyverns attacking, and dragon corruption spreading everywhere. Vrenille got caught in a portal to Xistentia while he and his guildmates were trying to help civilians get to safety from the city. It’s possible that some of the other members of the guild also escaped, but they were separated so he has no way to know for sure.

IC:

CHARACTER NAME: Azazel
CANON: Rage of Bahamut series
CANON POINT: End of season 2 ep 2
CRAU: No
AGE: unknown (fairly old) appears late twenties
AGENT OF DESTINY: Yes - coerced
BACKGROUND:
| CHARACTER WIKIA
| WORLD INFO WIKIA
| SEASON 1 WIKIA
| SEASON 2 WIKIA

POWERS/ABILITIES:
  • BLACK MAGIC : Azazel has been shown to be able to summon skeletons to fight on his behalf historically. More recent canon tends to rely more heavily on his battle techniques and the use of very little black magic, predominantly keeping it to these black snake like appendages that appear and can whip about or be honed into weapons. I will be keeping this ability primarily locked down to the snake-like appendages.
  • WINGED FLIGHT : Potentially due to his black magic, Azazel has the ability to hide his wings at will. When out, he can use his wings to fly.
  • INCREASED STRENGTH / DURABILITY : While not invulnerable, Azazel does possess a great strength. While not shown to cause reckless destruction levels of strength, Azazel has been able to fight many enemies and overpower them. Even holding Nina down, who has great strength to lift tons of bricks with ease. He's also taken a lot of heavy hits, and while it's not impossible to kill him it does take concerted effort and skill.
  • INCREASED AGILITY : While limits are not shown in canon, he is shown to move so fast that he's near impossible to see at times.
  • GREEN STONE (weakness) : These stones complete null the power of gods and angels, leaving Azazel helpless in their presence. The stones do have to be activated, assumed by magic, to have effect. He's shown to be defeating Onyx Soldiers wearing the stones until they activate their abilities. Or direct contact with the stone is also dampening.
  • ARCHANGELS : While strong, he's not an archangel, and has been shown to get hurt by archangels like Lucifer and the weapon of an archangel.

STARTING EQUIPMENT:
| Clothes on his back
| Rags for his Ragged Demon costume
| His two swords
| Daemon: a black raven named Lucid

SAMPLES:
His arrival is anything but graceful as the demon comes tumbling through a portal of some one else's design into the sand of Xistentia's beach. His wings fold behind him as he struggles to up to his hands and glowers back up at the sky that dumped him here. Unlike many people to come tumbling to the beaches of Xistentia, this one was... somewhat prepared for what was coming ahead of him. He's here with a mission.

There's always a mission.

He pushes up to his knees before he notices the bird cock it's head as it observes him. He glares daggers at the bird, which ruffles under his gaze and stares coldly back at him.

"Come to mock me?" His voice is low and with little affect despite the glare in his eyes.

When the daemon starts to talk, he lulls his head to the side and barely listens. He's been given the spiel by another already, this is just a re-entry into a world that's not really meant for him.

His attention snaps to focus when he feels the creature nip at his hand. He snaps his hand back and goes back to glaring at the daemon.

Did you hear all of that? The daemon's tone was flat, indifferent, insistent still.

"Yes, I heard everything." Azazel narrows his eyes at the daemon. "What do I call you?"

Whatever name you choose. The bird loses interest, bored as it begins to clean it's feathers. A name quickly comes to mind of another that can be so insistent and so indifferent all at once.

"Luci suits you," Azazel relaxes as he climbs to his feet finally.

Lucid, the bird corrects. That's about right.

"Now, Lucid. Where do I find the others?"

EXIT STRATEGY: Bahamut didn't stop raging this time. The dragon was unstoppable, despite all the efforts of the humans, gods, angels, and demons. Azazel did his best to try delay the beast, but to no avail. When he saw an escape, a portal opened by someone else with magic he didn't question, Azazel stopped existing in a world where the dragon lived or daemons existed. Instead, he found himself in the presence of the D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. in what seemed like a dungeon in his own Anatae. There they kept him the screaming angel and tortured him with the sounds of his fellow demons' pain. Eventually, D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. reached an agreement with the fallen angel, the prolonged survival of his world to give him time to save the demons in exchange for his help now. Or else the demons pain would continue on.

Application - Clint Barton (MCU)

[personal profile] antivillain 2018-05-10 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
OOC:

PLAYER NAME: MerryB
AGE: 34
CONTACT: PM this journal

IC:

CHARACTER NAME: Clinton Francis (shuddup) Barton
CANON: MCU [Earth-199999], with possibility of compatible details sneaking in from mainstream comicverse[Earth-616] and the Ultimate version[Earth-1610].
CANON POINT: post-Infinity War
CRAU: No
AGE: 47
AGENT OF DESTINY: No
BACKGROUND:
[MCU Wiki]

POWERS/ABILITIES:
• enhanced hearing (thanks, S.H.I.E.L.D.; surgical implants more than cured partial deafness)
• enhanced vision (ditto; eyes had been hazel before blinded on a mission, woke up with new blue ones that he can sometimes consciously focus like riflescopes). Exceptional detail recognition, distance vision, and motion sensing.
• dead reckoning (learned)
• master-level archer: exceptional aim, seen "send[ing] an arrow into moving targets with pin point accuracy". Supranormal spacial awareness, split-second calculation and anticipation demonstrated by shooting "an enemy warrior off a fast moving vehicle while looking the other way." [199999] His precision is not affected by arrows having different attachments (grappling wire, explosives, etc. from his trick quiver) so he's adaptable; can fire arrows with supranormal rapidity.
• hand-to-hand combat, both armed and un-. (He's shown sometimes using his bow as a shortstaff.) He's extremely advanced as he's shown as a formidable opponent to Black Widow. Of course she beats him, but it takes her whole minutes longer to knock him out while she's on her feet than it takes her to pwn a roomful of mafiosos while tied to a chair.
• speaking of adaptability and combat: One trick Clint and Tasha have in common is a mastery of situational awareness and being able to use an opponent's surroundings against them. Clint focuses this mainly on an "uncanny knack for using miscellaneous hand-held objects as projectile weapons".[1610] They've compared notes (played like a scoring game) on most creative/unexpected/ironic things they've weaponized.
• veteran espionage operative, whose training, while (paraphrasing Tasha) not covering gods and magic, probably does include other forms of weaponry and tactics.
• can pilot small aircraft.
• can draw really well. Not so great at making things up but can draw things he's seen very accurately, from maps to portraits.

STARTING EQUIPMENT: You'd think his daemon would take the shape of a hawk… but no, it takes the shape of a spider. With a smokey female voice. (Future nicknames for it may include "Natd"/"Nattered", "Blackd", "Rovd"/"Novd".) Just as well… he takes info and instruction from her original better than just about anyone else. Plus, super easy for daemon to stay on his person near-invisibly.

SAMPLES:

1. Scorched Multilog (plus extra facetwin fun)
2. Zombie meme
3. butt appreciation meme (plus Nat and Cap)

EXIT STRATEGY: Headcanon based on SPOILER FOR END OF "INFINITY WAR"

(Thanos might [as] well be an agent, witting or un-, of D.E.S.T.I.N.Y.)

When half the Earth's population abruptly disintegrated, that tragically included Clint's wife and sons. He tried to flee with his daughter who then also turned to ash in his arms. The combination of her ashes and Barton's fists hitting the ground seemed to collapse it beneath him, crumbling away as the people had, and he blacked out with grief and fury with a last sensation of falling. He woke up in Xistentia. What's keeping him basically on his feet and coping is the suspicion nothing is real and he's had a psychotic break, which he might as well make the best of, in the hopes when he comes out of it, his wife and kids will be fine. He also spent so much time away from them, dissociation/confusion—imagining himself in different times (perhaps before he married Laura or the kids were born)—is horrifically easy. He'll alternate between his usual self and falling through the fissures.

Re: REVISIONS

[personal profile] antivillain 2018-05-12 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much for the caring clarifications!! I really appreciate it!!!

Will do some mulling! Totally workable adjustments for Clint, though also makes me think about another character to app (instead/to start)… ^_^ Definitely does not dampen my interest in the game!

Re: REVISIONS - everything except sample

[personal profile] antivillain 2018-05-13 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
• Canon point: end of first Avengers movie (see: icon) when they all go their separate ways. Internal justification for why he can focus on/invest in being in Xistentia and not just trying to get back to his family on Earth: he wants to quadruple-check that he's fully free of Loki's influence before being anywhere near noncombatant loved ones, and saving them by saving reality = two birds, one stone.

Updated powers/abilities:
• master-level archer: exceptional aim, seen "send[ing] an arrow into moving targets with pin point accuracy". Supranormal spacial awareness, split-second calculation and anticipation demonstrated by shooting "an enemy warrior off a fast moving vehicle while looking the other way."[MCU wiki] His precision is not affected by arrows having different attachments (grappling wire, explosives, etc. from his trick quiver) so he's adaptable; can fire arrows with supranormal rapidity.
• veteran espionage operative, whose training, while (paraphrasing Nat) not covering gods and magic, probably does include other forms of weaponry and tactics.
• can pilot small aircraft.

May I keep these two purely headcanony things?
• dead reckoning (learned) <- since he spends so much time staying high up getting a bird's eye view, and Radiolab has taught me that this is the way to envision the world to get dead reckoning
• can draw really well. Not so great at making things up but can draw things he's seen very accurately, from maps to portraits. <- 'cause, y'know, he's got a good eye…? /winkgroan/

[personal profile] antivillain 2018-05-14 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
/hopes very much this is okay…! Novad being so vocal is for purposes of sample, not so much a plan for actual gameplay/

[Subject:] Daemon:Novad

[Several things have become instantly clear about Clint—to himself, to his daemon, and quite possibly, in a moment, to whoever receives the transmission. First: he prefers thinking as a team activity. Second: he thrives (and secretly likes) when it challenges him. Third: he likes getting outside intended boundaries. Bonus fourth for those with the inside knowledge to recognize the daemon's smoky voice: he misses his old partner.

The transmission begins as Voice, and has two of them. First, Clint:]

Will you just transmit what I tell you to?

[Second: quickly obviously the daemon.]

The point of this is to communicate with others. No one's going to know what you're saying.

Let me worry about that, will you? It's kind of the point.

Okay, okay. Which do you want to start with.

Text.

Fine.

[Transmission switches abruptly to text. Which scrolls itself out with almost reluctant and/or sarcastic slowness.]

9.24-24.9.22 / 9 / 9.9-9-24.24-22

[Everything not banter is a S.H.I.E.L.D. recognition tactic. This one: standard alphanumeric conversion expressed in Roman numerals themselves alphanumerically converted, whose translation was a falconry reference re: restraint. Simultaneously a status update, an identification, and a request for extraction.

Probably in response to non-transmitted exchange, feed switches back to voice]

Ври, да помни.

[Said by him. A commandment of Fury's in Nat's language. Lie, but remember.]

Video now, please.

Yes, sir.

Don't call me that.

Yes, sugarbutt.

Ugh.

[video activates in time to catch the end of Clint rolling his eyes. But he adjusts quickly to look down the barrel, out at whoever may be receiving, and offer the slightest of not really happy smiles.]

'We defy augury.'

[A temporospatial reference in hopes of orientation, for whoever might recognize it; and yeah, a bit of cheek, even if you don't. That one's for Coulson.

… who's not going to be answering … … …

Shake it off, man.

Though the feed remains video, the female voice remains off-camera:]

So the idea is that anyone who can possibly understand any of that will present themselves back as countersign—?

Hey, could you not share our secrets?

You haven't confided any yet. Except some of what you said when you were still half conscious, which—

O-kay sign off please, computer.

Not a computer.

Sign off, m'lady.

Not a lady.

Sign off, dammit.

[Obligingly signs off]

OH! Here's a new thought I'd love to get your approval/rejection of before it may come up in game.

Since Clint's canonpoint is now end of Avengers 1, and his wife Laura wasn't established until Age of Ultron, I'm wondering if I can gracefully circumvent the whole marriage/family situation entirely…? Not to write out Laura's existence, but since canon leaves the timeline entirely unspecified, suppose perhaps Clint and Laura dated, might not currently be together, had he made it home from Avengers he would have proposed and started a family, but since he's in Xistentia instead…? I'd like to leave him open to all kinds of CR in game, and that would definitely help him invest fully in this plane of existence rather than always being fixated on trying to get home to his kids. Your thoughts?

Thanks so much again.
