[ It takes Caleb a long, long while to reply.

Of all the things to make him think of home, he wouldn't - couldn't - have imagined that seeing this image projected from his daemon (a familiar dog he owned, but not) would make his memories recede to the moment his mind was mature enough to formulate 'I'm alone, because my brother isn't with me'.

Caleb killed his brother before he ever had the chance to be born. No one told him that, no one would ever say that, but they're words he carries with him every day. His twin exists only in the imagination of what and who he could have been, if he weren't a missing piece of the boy's existence. How do you begin to explain you miss someone you never met?

How do you explain what it feels like to meet someone who could have been?

But it's not. As soon as his heartbeat settles just enough to turn into nervous curiosity, he proceeds to make his own image visible to the stranger asking for blood. (Would he like his father's blood, like Caleb does?) ]

You need some pointers on your approach.

[ ... Caleb pls. ]
